Reunion Night Marks Track’s 69th Year

(Slinger, WI) The Slinger Super Speedway celebrates its 69th season of racing, Sunday night, June 12, as Thrivent Financial presents Reunion Night. Born as a quarter-mile dirt track, the Slinger Speedway has evolved in to one of the premier asphalt short-tracks in the country.

The super late models will be joined on Sunday night by a full program for the late models, Midwest sportsman, Heros bees and figure 8’s. In addition, fans will be treated to a display of restored race cars that competed decades ago at Slinger Speedway. Fans will also have the opportunity to meet many of the drivers who raced the historic machines.

“Every season, this is a special night on our race calendar,” stated Slinger Speedway co-promoter Todd Thelen. “We get to take a step back in time and celebrate the history of this race track.”

Longtime Slinger Speedway race fans may notice some familiar faces in the crowd on most Sunday nights. Southeastern Wisconsin Short-Track Hall of Fame inductees Willie Goeden and Miles “the Mouse” Melius are regular attendees of the Sunday night weekly race programs.

“This Sunday night is the type of night where we bring those retired driving stars out from behind the scenes and back into the forefront,” continued Thelen.

Gates open Sunday evening at 4:45 p.m. with qualifying at 5:00. Opening ceremonies are set for 6:30 with racing to follow.
